I can remember…

One of the most remarkable experiences in these 10 months was the stay at Farilhão Grande for 4 nights. Much of the work was done during the night, when the roques-de-castro (Hydrobates castro) return to the nest. The nets were opened after the sun went down and closed before the sun came up. During that time, we removed the leaves from the nets and banded them. In addition to bird ringing, we took several biometric data such as: tarsus, wing, weight, age, muscle and fat. This 15 year old female was recaptured! We know this thanks to scientific ringing.
