Volunteer with European Solidarity Corps for Activities in Portugal with Ecological Sense
The project LIFE Volunteer Escapes – Volunteer with European Solidarity Corps for Activities in Portugal with Ecological Sense (LIFE17 ESC/PT/00003), funded by the LIFE programme and led by a consortium of nine partners, involves national and international volunteers registered in the European Solidarity Corps platform (https://europa.eu/youth/
The volunteering programmes are long term (from two to twelve months) and feature different types of tasks and activities related to environmental protection, nature and biodiversity conservation. Activities are mainly targeted at Natura 2000 locations and species protected by the Birds and Habitats Directive.
The project is carried out by a large consortium of nine national partners, with MONTIS as coordinator. This is a preparatory project under the LIFE programme, which means that it seeks to generate information and knowledge that can be employed on a larger scope, both domestically and in other EU Member States, even after the conclusion of the project.
The project started on 1st January 2018 and will end on 30th June 2021.
Volunteers, between the ages of 18 and 30, will directly tackle current nature conservation issues, and take part in volunteering activities with other actors (schools, IPPS, companies, general public, as well as associates of consortium partners). The involvement of over 100 organisations and 2,000 people is expected over the course of the three years of the project.
